Notable events during the month:                  
Warmth was consistent rather than intense, and arguably the main feature of the month was almost complete absence of cool days, with only two
maxima below 20ēC. The lowest maximum of all,  16.7ēC on the 6th, is higher than in any other June since at least 1900.    
Almost half the month's rainfall came in a downpour on the night of 22nd/23rd.  Gardens looked very dry indeed for most of the month. Overall, it was
the warmest June since 1976 and the sunniest since 1996. Those of 2002 and 2001 were, however, drier.
